And... we're BACK!

Appollogies for the hiatus loyal LaPooites! The mister was traveling all last month, so the nugget and I decided to park it in the big apple with the grandparents. Such a dream to be back in NYC - so many highlights to discuss. BUT FIRST... the FLIGHTS! My first plane trips with the nugget, and I did it solo! He was an angel on both legs... really it was just the airports that were the shit show. Let's just say a Japanese business man wound up wheeling the nugget to the taxi line at JFK. Anyhoodles, check out the creepy hand on my flight home. And yes. I was watching the Office.

Stay tuned for more exciting NEWS!

W11-Sept 29

GREETINGS FROM NYC! Trip has been amazing so far and jam packed, so will give just the highlights for now...

Day 1 - Quick visit to MOMA, always a must. Lunch at Pinche, DELISH cheapy Mexican food in Nolita.Obsessed with their Yucca fries. Nothing yucca about 'em. Sorry, just the highlights.

Day 2 - Brunch at Locanda Verde in Tribeca. The old AGO spot. Everything was fantastic. Highly reco the patisserie plate to start. I DIE. Then attended our friend's wedding at Studio 450. Super cool NYC spot. It was a vegetarian wedding so got wasted, tried to request some Beyonce from the swing band, jetlag set in - home in bed by 11:30. All in all an excellent evening. Wore my black See by Chloe cocktail dress with the necklace hubby gave me for my bday and gold Jimmy Choo strappies. Oh and the bride looked stunning too.

Day 3 - Too hungover to do anything. Did manage, however, to go to an early dinner with hubby and my dad at Minetta Tavern in the west village. Had been once before, and was pleasantly surprised at how exceptional the food and cocktails were! Second time around proved just as good. Always impressed when an ultra trendy place delivers on the food as well. Two enthusiastic thumbs up!

Day 4 - This was one of my fave days so far. Hubby and I walked the Highline, which we had not yet done. Really think the designers stayed true to the industrial/rail aesthetic. Loved all the benches and chaise lounges on wheels. (see above.) Next, Chelsea Market for lunch. We ate at our fave Ronnybrook Farm's Milk Bar. Get the blueberry pomegranate shake. It never disappoints. That evening we got to attend the taping of the Daily Show, as my dad was on to promote his new book. After, dinner at Otto. Always reliable for delish pizza and controversial, but authentic, gelato flavours! YUMM.

That brings us up to the present. Who knows what will happen next....

W11 - Sept 24

Yesterday’s highlights….sushi lunch from the Japan Centre with N4. We ordered way too much and ate too much. Total dream. Stopped in Joseph on the way back to the tube, where I fell in love with the entire A/W 09 Phillip Lim collection (see pic above). DANG IT. Home to bake cookie’s for hubby’s poker night friends. I am a domestic dream! Next, drinks with another fellow American friend at Pix – the new Tapas place on Westbourne Grove. Food was average, wine and atmosphere were nice. Definitely would never go for a meal, but could see it being quite appealing for a late night drunken snack. Next stop, Julie’s for this week’s installment of Gossip Girl. Must first mention though, on my way I stopped at Osteria Basilico to pick up our pasta fix for the evening. Outfit was casual cute – new Uniqlo jeans, can’t get enough of them – with blue silk cutie top from Provence, black Paul Smith cropped blazer, Marc Jacobs black heels, hair in low messy side bun with purple bow headband in honour of Blair. ANYWAY, as I was waiting, this pompous ass asked me to refill his water glass! I MEAN, do I LOOK like I work in a restaurant? Not that there’s anything wrong with that. He then never apologized and proceeded to avoid eye contact with me until my food arrived.

ANYWAY, GG episode two – MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT. GG in college just does not work. Once again, I know I can’t give too much away, but first of all, where was Jenny the entire epi? In school? Getting a makeover? Let’s hope so. And Eric for that matter was also completely MIA. Luckily he has no plot line anymore, so that didn’t really matter. But, honestly, how’s this going to work? Even GG herself didn’t make an “appearance” till the very end. No insightful biting comments throughout? DISASTER! Scott, or Antonio as I like to call him, is still super annoying and mysterious in a NOBODY CARES kind of a way. Per usual, the only parts I enjoyed were when Blair and Chuck were together, as they should be, in perfect harmony.

Off to NYC and Chicago today, so sure to be much excitement in the next coming weeks. STAY TUNED my devoted fans. All three of you.

W11 - Sept 22

Last couple of days haven’t been super exciting, but a few key events worth mentioning. Saw Julie & Julie at the Electric cinema last night! Loved it! The last twenty mins dragged a bit, but otherwise I thought it was so well done. That Meryl Streep really can do no wrong!

TODAY, had an interview at SW6’s work!! I was SUPER excited and a bit nervous. Met with the head of PR and head of HR. Luckily my outfit was FOOL PROOF! Okay I’ll tell you….remember the navy Isabel Marant cigarette pants from Paris? Wore those with a white Paul Smith three quarter length button down shirt (sleeves are kinda poofy twisty) with black knit APC short sleeved top over the shirt. WITH long strands of CHANEL pearls. Black patent SUPER HIGH peep toe Miu Miu heels – eggplant Miu Miu bag and hair in a pony. May have oversold myself a bit though,’cause after five minutes both interviewers decided I had too much experience for the posish. Am disappointed, but actually the head of PR was so nice and said she might have some freelance writing I could do for them! So grateful to SW6 for the reco and so glad I went in – always good to put in some face time. Fingers crossed something good comes of it. ALSO, had another conference call last night about the bridesmaid dress company ….mainly discussed financy stuff, so that’s all still in the works, and really in hubby’s realm of expertise at the mo. Things are coming along nicely I suppose. A bit blue that the job didn’t work out today. Was so nice to be back in a luxury fashion environment – looked really cool. Would have loved to work there, but everything happens for a reason right!? As my fam always says, everything works out in the end…..and when you’re cold, buy a sweater!

TOODLES!

W11 - Weekend of Sept 18

This weekend, and leading up to it, basically revolved around food…for a change! The highlight was actually Thursday night, as we attended a chef’s table dinner, thanks to our fab friends Natalia and Jason, at Divertimenti with Michelin starred chef Atul Kochhar. Each course, of the SIX, was better than the next, and thanks to my trusty friend Immodium, major IBS – have I not mentioned? - I was able to thoroughly enjoy it without awkward interruption. It was probably the best Indian food we have ever had, including a tour of India two years ago.

BUT, let’s back up to the beginning when hubby and I arrived late, only by five minutes mind you, to find 10 other people and the chef silently waiting for us. I think I won them over as I strode in wearing a huge chunky Chanel necklace and 4 inch heels, exclaiming in my ever so subtle American accent, "OMG we’re the LAST ones here! SORRY!!!" And to add insult to injury we then made everyone move chairs so that hubby and I could sit next to each other. I was a little nervous how the rest of the evening would go down, but after a few glasses of wine, we were all besties discussing our favorite London restos and chefs! PHEW! Personal fave of the night was Helen, with her flock of seagull’s do, and eccentric stories of being a buyer at Harvey Nicks to living in India. Other fave mo of the evening, was when Chef Atul took a call on his Iphone from his wife in the middle of explaining the lamb curry dish. PR stunt? I thought so, but hubby called me cynical. I mean maybe not, but didn’t we both go home to tell all our friends what a nice “family guy” chef Atul was? Worked like a charm Tully. Anyway, all in all an amazing evening – even got a little tipsy, verified twofold by hubby – 1.) When he announced to the group how great our free dinner was (uhh it wasn’t free for everyone) and 2.) Tripping up the stairs to our flat on our way home! YESSSSSSS!

Rest of the weekend consisted of meeting various friends for more delish meals in the hood. Came to a close on the couch with hubby sipping hot chocolate as he watched the Chelsea game and I flipped through the Oct issue of Vogue!

N4 - Sept 18

So I went to see 'Breakfast at Tiffanys' last night at the theatre with a client. I'm still not sure how I feel about it?? Anna freil's performance was in my eyes pretty good and she can sing (although there was no moon river renditions which did sadden me). There was 2 nudey performances although I was sat at the wrong angle to see anything naughty! The best thespian on the stage was a really well behaved cat...seriously it was better than some of the main characters.
Not a patch on audrey or the film.

I'm now sat on the coach heading up to leeds and guess who has the smelly man with a cold chanting prayers next to her? Yes me...every time this happens! I need to book the train as soon as I get paid next time (I always say that and I always get the smelly bus up due to lack of pennies). Well at least I have a cocktail waiting for me at the other end of the journey and tomorrow night is mojito night at my friend danny and his bf's...can't wait.
