W11-Sept 29

GREETINGS FROM NYC! Trip has been amazing so far and jam packed, so will give just the highlights for now...

Day 1 - Quick visit to MOMA, always a must. Lunch at Pinche, DELISH cheapy Mexican food in Nolita.Obsessed with their Yucca fries. Nothing yucca about 'em. Sorry, just the highlights.

Day 2 - Brunch at Locanda Verde in Tribeca. The old AGO spot. Everything was fantastic. Highly reco the patisserie plate to start. I DIE. Then attended our friend's wedding at Studio 450. Super cool NYC spot. It was a vegetarian wedding so got wasted, tried to request some Beyonce from the swing band, jetlag set in - home in bed by 11:30. All in all an excellent evening. Wore my black See by Chloe cocktail dress with the necklace hubby gave me for my bday and gold Jimmy Choo strappies. Oh and the bride looked stunning too.

Day 3 - Too hungover to do anything. Did manage, however, to go to an early dinner with hubby and my dad at Minetta Tavern in the west village. Had been once before, and was pleasantly surprised at how exceptional the food and cocktails were! Second time around proved just as good. Always impressed when an ultra trendy place delivers on the food as well. Two enthusiastic thumbs up!

Day 4 - This was one of my fave days so far. Hubby and I walked the Highline, which we had not yet done. Really think the designers stayed true to the industrial/rail aesthetic. Loved all the benches and chaise lounges on wheels. (see above.) Next, Chelsea Market for lunch. We ate at our fave Ronnybrook Farm's Milk Bar. Get the blueberry pomegranate shake. It never disappoints. That evening we got to attend the taping of the Daily Show, as my dad was on to promote his new book. After, dinner at Otto. Always reliable for delish pizza and controversial, but authentic, gelato flavours! YUMM.

That brings us up to the present. Who knows what will happen next....

W11 - Sept 24

Yesterday’s highlights….sushi lunch from the Japan Centre with N4. We ordered way too much and ate too much. Total dream. Stopped in Joseph on the way back to the tube, where I fell in love with the entire A/W 09 Phillip Lim collection (see pic above). DANG IT. Home to bake cookie’s for hubby’s poker night friends. I am a domestic dream! Next, drinks with another fellow American friend at Pix – the new Tapas place on Westbourne Grove. Food was average, wine and atmosphere were nice. Definitely would never go for a meal, but could see it being quite appealing for a late night drunken snack. Next stop, Julie’s for this week’s installment of Gossip Girl. Must first mention though, on my way I stopped at Osteria Basilico to pick up our pasta fix for the evening. Outfit was casual cute – new Uniqlo jeans, can’t get enough of them – with blue silk cutie top from Provence, black Paul Smith cropped blazer, Marc Jacobs black heels, hair in low messy side bun with purple bow headband in honour of Blair. ANYWAY, as I was waiting, this pompous ass asked me to refill his water glass! I MEAN, do I LOOK like I work in a restaurant? Not that there’s anything wrong with that. He then never apologized and proceeded to avoid eye contact with me until my food arrived.

ANYWAY, GG episode two – MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT. GG in college just does not work. Once again, I know I can’t give too much away, but first of all, where was Jenny the entire epi? In school? Getting a makeover? Let’s hope so. And Eric for that matter was also completely MIA. Luckily he has no plot line anymore, so that didn’t really matter. But, honestly, how’s this going to work? Even GG herself didn’t make an “appearance” till the very end. No insightful biting comments throughout? DISASTER! Scott, or Antonio as I like to call him, is still super annoying and mysterious in a NOBODY CARES kind of a way. Per usual, the only parts I enjoyed were when Blair and Chuck were together, as they should be, in perfect harmony.

Off to NYC and Chicago today, so sure to be much excitement in the next coming weeks. STAY TUNED my devoted fans. All three of you.

W11 - Sept 22

Last couple of days haven’t been super exciting, but a few key events worth mentioning. Saw Julie & Julie at the Electric cinema last night! Loved it! The last twenty mins dragged a bit, but otherwise I thought it was so well done. That Meryl Streep really can do no wrong!

TODAY, had an interview at SW6’s work!! I was SUPER excited and a bit nervous. Met with the head of PR and head of HR. Luckily my outfit was FOOL PROOF! Okay I’ll tell you….remember the navy Isabel Marant cigarette pants from Paris? Wore those with a white Paul Smith three quarter length button down shirt (sleeves are kinda poofy twisty) with black knit APC short sleeved top over the shirt. WITH long strands of CHANEL pearls. Black patent SUPER HIGH peep toe Miu Miu heels – eggplant Miu Miu bag and hair in a pony. May have oversold myself a bit though,’cause after five minutes both interviewers decided I had too much experience for the posish. Am disappointed, but actually the head of PR was so nice and said she might have some freelance writing I could do for them! So grateful to SW6 for the reco and so glad I went in – always good to put in some face time. Fingers crossed something good comes of it. ALSO, had another conference call last night about the bridesmaid dress company ….mainly discussed financy stuff, so that’s all still in the works, and really in hubby’s realm of expertise at the mo. Things are coming along nicely I suppose. A bit blue that the job didn’t work out today. Was so nice to be back in a luxury fashion environment – looked really cool. Would have loved to work there, but everything happens for a reason right!? As my fam always says, everything works out in the end…..and when you’re cold, buy a sweater!

TOODLES!

W11 - Weekend of Sept 18

This weekend, and leading up to it, basically revolved around food…for a change! The highlight was actually Thursday night, as we attended a chef’s table dinner, thanks to our fab friends Natalia and Jason, at Divertimenti with Michelin starred chef Atul Kochhar. Each course, of the SIX, was better than the next, and thanks to my trusty friend Immodium, major IBS – have I not mentioned? - I was able to thoroughly enjoy it without awkward interruption. It was probably the best Indian food we have ever had, including a tour of India two years ago.

BUT, let’s back up to the beginning when hubby and I arrived late, only by five minutes mind you, to find 10 other people and the chef silently waiting for us. I think I won them over as I strode in wearing a huge chunky Chanel necklace and 4 inch heels, exclaiming in my ever so subtle American accent, "OMG we’re the LAST ones here! SORRY!!!" And to add insult to injury we then made everyone move chairs so that hubby and I could sit next to each other. I was a little nervous how the rest of the evening would go down, but after a few glasses of wine, we were all besties discussing our favorite London restos and chefs! PHEW! Personal fave of the night was Helen, with her flock of seagull’s do, and eccentric stories of being a buyer at Harvey Nicks to living in India. Other fave mo of the evening, was when Chef Atul took a call on his Iphone from his wife in the middle of explaining the lamb curry dish. PR stunt? I thought so, but hubby called me cynical. I mean maybe not, but didn’t we both go home to tell all our friends what a nice “family guy” chef Atul was? Worked like a charm Tully. Anyway, all in all an amazing evening – even got a little tipsy, verified twofold by hubby – 1.) When he announced to the group how great our free dinner was (uhh it wasn’t free for everyone) and 2.) Tripping up the stairs to our flat on our way home! YESSSSSSS!

Rest of the weekend consisted of meeting various friends for more delish meals in the hood. Came to a close on the couch with hubby sipping hot chocolate as he watched the Chelsea game and I flipped through the Oct issue of Vogue!

N4 - Sept 18

So I went to see 'Breakfast at Tiffanys' last night at the theatre with a client. I'm still not sure how I feel about it?? Anna freil's performance was in my eyes pretty good and she can sing (although there was no moon river renditions which did sadden me). There was 2 nudey performances although I was sat at the wrong angle to see anything naughty! The best thespian on the stage was a really well behaved cat...seriously it was better than some of the main characters.
Not a patch on audrey or the film.

I'm now sat on the coach heading up to leeds and guess who has the smelly man with a cold chanting prayers next to her? Yes me...every time this happens! I need to book the train as soon as I get paid next time (I always say that and I always get the smelly bus up due to lack of pennies). Well at least I have a cocktail waiting for me at the other end of the journey and tomorrow night is mojito night at my friend danny and his bf's...can't wait.

SW6 - 17th September

Ok so I haven’t posted for a few days…why? Because it would have been humiliating to do so! All I have done is work and clean. The old flat moved out and the new one moved in so I had 2 evenings of scrubbing walls, draws and floors! Finally my new flat mate has moved in however I have yet to cross paths with her so far so good!
The only highlight of my past few days has been 2 encounters with Jason Orange from Take That! well I say encounters I mean crossings in the street – well to be fair we did have eye contact both times! I think he lives by my office. Good God listen to me, this doesn’t qualify as interesting – I need to get out!
I have not worn heals or been to a club since Ibiza and it is killing me – I genuinely think it is bad for my soul not to go out! I have resorted to dancing in my room with my marigolds and my Hoover whilst cleaning to Missy Elliot’s 4 my people on repeat! HELP!! I have planned a night in Cuckoo on Friday night with Dancinggirl and another night out on Saturday so hopefully my life and sanity will be back on track by next week.
I was asked by ASOS magazine to appear in a shoot for one style 3 ways where three people style the same piece in their own way, however by boss said I couldn’t do if I used my own name as the brand couldn’t be associated with something like ASOS. Eer I am not the brand I am me! I feel like I am back at boarding school where every part of my life is controlled again.
One thing I would like to say… (although I know what he did wasn’t entirely appropriate)
TEAM KANYE!!!
How can some dorky awkward manufactured plonker beat BK???? Hello have you ever seen anyone move like that?

W11 - Sept 18

Finally watched GG yesterday at Julies’. Liked it didn’t love, but I won’t give too much away. I will, however, just give a few of my superficial notes. Some might argue all notes on GG are superficial, but I don’t really have time for them.

In terms of pure aesthetics, I feel they are finally styling Serena properly. Dan’s sideburns are ridiculous and have GOT to go. Are they supposed to detract from the fact that he gained weight? I don’t know, but either way, shave them immediately. Jenny; for someone who is supposed to be Queen Bee this year, she could not look trashier or more vamped out! Get it together your highness. Vanessa; uhh are those dreads? Are they extensions? Are they extensions you haven’t washed in several months? NIGHTMARE. Nate; whatever. Chuck and Blair, flawless as ever. AND finally, Dan and Serena’s new mysterious half brother Scott...uhh what? Is he Latino? Italiano? Either way, Lily + Ruphus does not equal Erik Estrada's long lost son. Someone in casting needs to be shot. (pic above). OH and Vanya, the Russian bellboy….happened to catch the actor’s name during the closing credits. Aaron Schwartz – nailed the accent. Shana Tova Schwartzy.

N4- 17th September

I had a cheeky pizza with Nats a mutual freind of SW6 & W11 on Wednesday and we both have decided to take a trip next year and do route 66!!! So excited at the prospect, I’ve always wanted to do it. We can’t decide to travel in a Jeep or a Cadillac and how long to do it for…decisions decisions.
Went for a pedicure at Aveda with one of the Grazia girls last night, nice little treat for a Wednesday, although not sure I chose the right colour but hey ho. I’m now on the scowl for the new Chanel green nail varnish…bet its sold out by the time I round to it.
Really looking forward to seeing ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’ tonight…wore my new leopard print coat in for the occasion and got lots of lingering stares on my journey to work, maybe it was to early in the day for peoples eyes? Also saw one of the companies chairman outside work…even he looked like he couldn’t digest the pattern so early in the morning.

LFW Tomorrow..wish I was going to some kind of party but away this weekend and the invites aren’t exactly flying in?!!!

P.S really jealous W11 that you are watching the new series of GG..WTF?

W11 - Sept 17

Yesterday was a vast improvement on the day before – though a bit full of false starts. Went to my friend Julie’s flat to watch the season premiere of Gossip Girl (We’re American – we have ways.) Unfortunately, Julie’s baby had a fever, so we decided to try again today. I did get a few moments with my boytoy Chuck Bass though – always a dream. Next, I headed back to Rankin Live to see if they could squeeze me in for my 15 minutes! Brutally rebuffed once again. They couldn’t fit me in, but gave me a number to call today – I mean not really sure why they couldn’t have given that to me last week, before I schlepped all the way over to bumble fuck Brick Lane with a bag full of 9 outfit options, but let’s face it, didn’t have anything better to do anyway.

Next item on the agenda, got a mani pedi – went for Essie colour Mesmerize. It’s a bit Cookie Monster blue, but I think it works.

Capped off the day with a couple drinks at the Charlotte Street Hotel bar with a beauty editor I used to work with from NYC. Had a delightful time and she will now be referred to going forward as….my New Friend Jessica!

W11 - Sept 15

Ummm this weather has got to stop. I mean it’s technically still summer for the love of god and I almost wore BOOTS today. Uggh and it’s got me soo down. I don’t want to leave the flat, let alone the couch, not that it matters since I have ABSOLUTELY nothing to do anyway. I just feel like I’m in a holding pattern – holding my breath till my actual life starts again. God that was such an Angela Chase thing to say. You know who that is right?

I saw SW6 briefly today, which is always nice and she reminded me this is just temporary. I do have to keep telling myself it won’t be like this forever! Sorry such a debbie downer - plan to be more positive tomorrow!

Back in London and kind of pleased to see my bed…not so pleased for the rain and returning to work. Not all bad though as its show time and I have the lucky job of researching shows for the buyers. I LOVE fashion week…although rather odd that I’m starting to dream about sandals and hot pants and I’m just about to break into thigh high boots and fur coats. So nothing majorly exciting yet but loving Alexander Wang, Boy by band of outsiders and Derek Lam…amazing!

W11 - Sept 14

Hubby and I went to the Electric last night and saw the September Issue! Loved! It really made Anna Wintour, Grace Coddington and the whole Vogue staff, seem so accessible and humanized (is that a word) – like real people. My friend, a fellow fashion industry insider, said she felt like the filmmakers caught Anna and Grace in vulnerable moments. Totally agree – from the second Anna started speaking I was surprised to hear an actual person making little jokes and almost insecure or self deprecating at certain moments. I felt bad for Grace at times, like she was being pushed out, but in the end I realized that wasn’t the case at all. Strongly disliked Charlie Churchwood, (or whatever his name is) the Deisgn Director. He seemed so ass kissy and sniveling. I think he’s not with the mag anymore though, so there you go! Makes you realize how much Vogue/Anna really have their hand in all aspects of the fashion world too, from recommending designers as consultants for brands like MANGO to helping Neiman Marcus get their merchandise into the store more quickly.

Was also fun to see some editors that I’ve worked with before. Really liked the scene with Anna and her daughter in their apt. I knew she lived on Sullivan Street in the West Village in NYC, but her townhouse was not what I expected on the inside at all. I guess I thought it would be super designy, but it seemed cozy and a little beige to me. Anyway, really enjoyed the movie and the glimpse into Vogue. Made me a little sad that I’m not a part of it all at the mo…. OH and had never seen a movie at the Electric before – quite civilized! Had a little popcorn and hot chocolate on my leather seat and settled right in! We’re going again next Monday to see Julie and Julia! Can’t wait!

SW6 - Weekend 11th-13th September

OK so I may have not been entirely honest when I talked about all those lovely celebrities I met at Vogue FNOs…there was one who was a miserable condescending bitch but the wound was a little sore last time I posted but now I am ready to out her…Stella (crow’s feet) McCartney!! Apart from her patronizing and arrogant demeanor I have never seen wrinkles like that on a woman under the age of 60 (not bitter much am I!).

Anyway what a quiet weekend! Due to Ibiza draining all my funds and my toe still being broken and not being able to wear high heels or dance my weekend was pretty quiet! It is really killing me not being able to go out properly. The doctor said I should wait another 2 weeks before I wear heels but I am giving it till this weekend and that is it.

My pregnant sister was staying with me for the weekend for a two day wedding she was attending in London so I had to play personal stylist which was fun, I love seeing people (especially people I love) look great! I do like to have a bit of me time sometimes, but I maxed out this weekend trying not to spend money and now I feel like a caged lion! Friday night my friend and I cooked a thank you dinner for my friend and her man who we stayed with in Ibiza, Saturday brunch with my sis and brother in Law, a few hours at the office and a mani (for my last summer colour I went all out, check out the pic!) and then a proper sofa night; I flexed my X with Cheryl and Danni (still team Danni) and devoured October Vogue (wild hey!!).

I was supposed to meet up with some friends on Sunday but was feeling so PMS that I thought I would spare them and blow them out and spend the afternoon on Sloane Street for some retail therapy. I spent about 2 hours between Maje and Sandro (2 french labels) trying everything on and I mean pretty much everything – I think the shop assistants were pretty pissed off with me for not buying but I have selected a few items I will be back for on Pay day, everything I wanted was Micheal Jackson inspired – long live the King!! I ended up buying something from our brand with my discount - boring! xxx

PS my life better pic up this week!

W11 - Weekend of Sept 11th

I'm sorry to report, nothing wild happened this weekend – inlaws were in town so there was a lot of eating to be done! Saturday night we went for seafood at Geales in Kensington, which was good not great! THEN hubby and I went to Jo’s bday drinks at Beach Blanket Babylon in the hood. Unfortunately we did a lap, managed to find Jo and co and then I felt SO SICK I had to get out of there ASAP. Home and in the bathroom 5 minutes later. YIKES! Such a waste of a great outfit too - was wearing my APC denim short overall things (with the suspenders hanging down) with a gorge Philip Lim purple silk top (see pic above). High silver Paul Smith heels, pink quilted Chanel bag, Chanel cuff bracelet and hair in high side pony! I MEAN....COME ON!

On Saturday afternoon we took a trip to Uniqlo, where I got two new pair of jeans! They have a special on at the mo – 2 pair for 39.99! BARGAIN! Got light grey skinnies and dark blue skinnies! I LOVE Uniqlo jeans - they fit me so will, are super comfortable and such a bargain. I highly recommend!

Not much else happened….possible job prospect in the works. Would be running a studio here for a bridesmaid dress designer based in NYC….could be exciting! We’ll see what happens. Sunday night ordered Yelo thai and watched X Factor with hubby. The end.

N4 - Sept 10

Nice is nice.

Just killed 4 hours in Nice, went into monoprix on the recommendation of W11 although I wasn't as lucky as she. But not all was lost as I did spot a 'masions du monde' store opposite and nearly went crazy with interior goodies but quickly remembered I would have to carry anything I bought so I indulged in some cute pop art mugs for a friend's bday. They have C&A here?!!! I remember when they used to have stores in the UK...so dodge for clothes can't believe they're still going!

Just been sat by the sea with my can of perrier soaking up the last of the day's rays and spotted a lady with the cutest hair! See pic....not sure who was more embarrassed about taking the picture me of her. (Pic to come - get on it N4)

Quickly getting bored of my own company wish DB's was here.
No wasps so far which is good...onto Toulouse next.

W11-Sept 11

Friday I met hubby for lunch in the city. We tried a new place across from Spitalfields market, Verde & Company LTD. It was a tiny little “Dickension deli” as hubby called it, seemingly run by Americans. We shared a lamb sandi and smoked chicken and guacamole salad. Each was SPECTACULAR, or as hubby put it, they were “the business!” Dying to go back ASAP.

After we parted ways, I wandered around Spitalfields, but really only saw one stall I liked and thought was unique. It was a cutie jewellery designer called Eat Your Feet Jewellery - whimsical plastic cushiony necklaces and earrings. My fave was the life-saver LOVE necklace. www.eatyourfeet.com.

Then I walked to Brick Lane and checked out the Rankin Live exhibit, which was amazing. Especially loved the Heidi Klum series. Might go back next week and try and get my photo taken. What will I wear? Perhaps a 60's theme, just a men's white shirt?

In the evening, we met a group of friends in the hood at The Cow for drinks and din din. We didn't have dessert, but I still had a thoroughly delightful time!

SW6 - 10th September

I heart London! What a great night Vogue put on. Bond street was buzing, people looked great and the alcohol was flowing. I was blown away with the effort everyone put into their looks, London certainly has style. They managed to draw a very young cool crowed, it was so great to see them in all the shops on Bond Street, not a normal occurance. It was a mad night for me and my collegaues it actually ended up being really sweet, as it was such a success everyone was in such high spirits. I met Daisy Lowe, Alice Dellal, Jacquetta Wheeler Yasmin and Amber Le Bon and Rosie Huntington-Whitely who were all suprisingly lovely and open, I have to say I had pre judged Daisy and Alice and was very wrong they were very sweet and helpful, some very cool girls we have in London (look at me name dropping, what a tit, but hey seeing as all I have done is stare at my computor screen for the last 3 days I deserve a bit of celeb hob knobbing!).We ended the night locked in our store drinking and dancing to the Bungalow 8 DJ we had with the Vogue girls (we were one of the few stores that served alcohol so everyone congregated there).I have to say the evening did not do wonders for my confidence with all the celebrities and models everywhere but I guess you should expect some confidence bashing from time to time in this business. xx

N4 - Sept 10

Bonjourno!
The past few days have been amazing to say the least. After spending them in tuscany with 10 off my closest girlfriends and their boyfriends. I won the competition for the heaviest suitcase....so proud!

The week has been infested with wasps from the word go...discovering we may have a wasps at home after finding a mini gang flying round the flat before we left, to greeting an infestation by the villa in Tuscany...and me being the only plonker to get stung. In a really undignified manor in my bikini on my inner thigh and throwing my legs in the air and screaming 'I've been stung!' Leaving everyone behind me questioning where as I grabbed my crutch region.

The wedding itself was amazing..the bride wearing couture....holding onto to tradition with the something old something new something borrowed something blue. The bride panicking the night before the wedding as she had nothing borrowed I managed to find a gorgeous pearl grip in my jewellery case for her hair.

Also had a mini wedding outfit crisis after discovering 10mins before walking up to the church that my outfit had shrunk after me hand washing it....devastated. I had to get two of the boys to use there WHOLE body strength to try and stretch it back to shape. Not looking forward to the wedding pics with me looking like the inappropriate slutty wedding guest.

Anyway on my to wedding number two in france and riding the train up through italy on my lonesome...now I'm not so proud I packed so much as there is no one to help me carry my wardrobe.
France here I come...and please don't send any wasps to greet me.

W11 - Sept 10

Sadly, I spent most of yesterday afternoon trying to figure out what to wear in the evening, as I went out with my friend Natalie (introduced to me by N4 and SW6) and her friend Susannah, to Vogue’s Fashion’s Night Out. Decided on my tan Top Shop coulottes (LOVE saying coooolottes), my new navy striped sweatshirt top from Paris, Navy Helmut Lang denim jacket with a little Chanel pin on the collar, tan APC heels, BIG owl necklace, two Chanel bangles and red patent Miu Miu bag! Casual cool! P.S. Just between you and me, I always like to list the labels I’m wearing in my head, but for last night’s thing in particular I kept thinking maybe one of the stores would be having a contest where if you could list all the labels on your body, you won some amazing prize!!! Not so much….but you never know!

UHHH anyway, we walked all of New/Old Bond street and checked out most of the stores. Also stopped in one in particular to see SW6 working! Most of the shops were serving cocktails or champagne. The margaritas at Jimmy Choo were surprisingly good, popcorn at Joseph was delish, and the bacon and gruyere crepes at Nicole Fahri were not quite as good as they sound. I was MOST excited for Smythson, however, who I had read were giving out Primrose Bakery cupcakes (THE BEST IN LONDON), but by the time we got there, they were out! FIGURES! Apparently there were lots of Brit celebs around too, but I didn’t recognize anyone. I’ll leave those stories to SW6 who saw and spoke to most of them. I did see the Papparazzi outside of Burberry, which we later went into. Their party was SOO drole! Have no idea what that means, but I think it's good and Natalie kept saying it all night! Love new phrases! We capped off the night at the Japan Centre with some delish sushi, and then headed home on the bus. Not quite the stylish ending the evening deserved, but you know credit crunch, blah blah blah!

OH and to the woman in the checkout line at Tesco, yes that was my boob you elbowed (or body checked). You know who you are.

Pics are of cutie couple outside Burberry - look at the jacket she's wearing! The one I want from Top Shop! Two girls in Burberry party that Natalie knew - they were very fun and super British! Mackie, taller one on left, was telling us how she and her mom just adopted a baby elephant! And you can't really tell, but Natasha (Tash), had studs on most of her items of clothes and she looked really cool! Other pic is models in the windows at Louis Vuitton and popcorn guy at Joseph.
